Claims & Contract Details
Where can I take my car for repairs?
Repairs must be performed at a licensed repair facility.
A licensed repair facility is a business that is legally authorized to perform automotive repairs under state or local regulations. ASE certification indicates that an individual technician has demonstrated expertise in specific areas of automotive repair. Most licensed repair facilities employ ASE certified technicians as it is a widely recognized credential that helps ensure quality workmanship.
Is the deductible per repair or per visit?
A $50 deductible applies per visit.
How do I cancel my contract?
You may cancel within 60 days for a full refund (if no claims were made). After 60 days, refunds are prorated and may include a cancellation fee. Please see the vehicle service contract for full details.
What’s the maximum payout on a contract?
Our limit of liability is the cost to repair or replace any covered breakdown; but in no event shall this cost exceed the average retail value of your vehicle as determined by the NADA official user car guide at the time immediately prior to the breakdown. The total of all benefits paid or payable during the service contract period shall not exceed the price you paid for your vehicle.
General Protection Questions
What is a vehicle service contract?
A vehicle service contract is an agreement that helps cover the cost of certain repairs after your factory warranty expires. Coverage varies by plan, but it can help protect you from unexpected repair expenses on major vehicle components.
What's the difference between a Vehicle Service Contract and a Manufacturer Warranty?
A Vehicle Service Contract (VSC) is a paid mechanical breakdown protection plan covering certain components on your vehicle for a set time and mileage. Unlike a manufacturer’s warranty which is included in the purchase price of certain vehicles, a VSC is optional and purchased separately.
How does VWP work?
VWP connects drivers with vehicle service contract options after they leave the dealership. This allows customers to explore coverage on their own timeline while still supporting participating dealerships through a referral-based model.
Is there a waiting period before my protection begins?
Yes — coverage begins after a 30-day and 1,000-mile waiting period from purchase.
Does the plan cover wear and tear?
No, plans cover mechanical breakdown failures as listed in your vehicle service contract, but not general wear and tear items like tires, break pads, hoses, etc.
Can I buy a vehicle service contract after I’ve already purchased my car?
Yes. You can purchase a vehicle service contract (VSC) after you’ve left the dealership. Many drivers prefer to wait so they can review their options without pressure and make a more informed decision.
Is it more expensive to buy a vehicle service contract after leaving the dealership?
Not necessarily. In many cases, pricing is comparable, and buying after the dealership allows you time to compare options and choose coverage that fits your needs and budget.
Why would someone wait to buy a vehicle service contract?
Many drivers choose to wait so they can research their options, compare coverage, and make a decision without feeling rushed. Waiting gives you more control and confidence in your choice.
